Isherwood traveled all over the UK during his career,
scouring for subject matter. 'Mother Lily' always accompanied 'Jim' around the
UK to his exhibitions and painting locations.
The death of 'Mother Lily' in 1973, threw Isherwood
into the depths of despair and alcohol. In the mid 70's , 'Jim' and partner Pat
White/Isherwood traveled Europe together. They stayed in Spain and Malta,
'Jim's' work re-ignited into a prolific and important period. His work from this
period is characterised by blasts of bright colour. Isherwood was happy and
content with life again . Isherwood even held
shows in Southern Spain and was exhibited in Malta's Fine Art Museum in Valetta. His
landscapes are now being re-discovered , by a growing number of followers.

There was a limited edition print made of this Mining
